A Good Flying Day 8th August 2007
While you can never be sure about flying conditions by looking at the sky from the ground, some days look better than others, and this one looks better than most.
There is plenty of blue sky to let the sun through to warm the ground, the scattered cumulus clouds are marking the tops of thermals, and the dark flat bottoms of the clouds indicate that the thermals are quite strong.
Phil King and Martyn Davies each flew 751Km flights on this day, the first ever flown from Snitterfield. The route was to Petersfield (Hampshire), Tuxford (near Lincoln), Lasham (Hampshire), and back home. It took them 9 hours.
