Stratford Members' Forum
This forum is for Stratford members to talk about anything, really,
although gliding-related seems to be a good start. The things that we
expect to happen here include:
- Current gliding crises such as Mode S
- So-and-so got to 8000' in wave in February
- Who can make it if we open the club next Wednesday
- Why do we do things this way.
Wouldn't it be better if we did it that way?
- I've had this great idea
Forum Rules
The rules of this Forum, from the provider and from the club, are:
- This forum is publicly visible, so avoid inflammatory or offensive
subjects or comments. Try to keep your language reasonably clean, and
try to keep to things vaguely related to SoAGC.
- Constructive criticism is fine, but abuse and obscenity are not, nor is
committee-bashing. Please restrict yourselves to comments that you would
make to somebody's face.
- Do not obscure your identity when you register
- The administrator of the forum is boardmaster@stratfordgliding.co.uk and
is otherwise anonymous. Replies will come via webmaster@.
The administrator has every right to delete, gag, or ban you for breach
of these rules, so don't annoy them.
- The forum is for club members, and is not a committee vehicle. The
administrator is a club member but not a committee member. Committee members
are club members too, of course, but any posts by them represent personal
opinions and not club policy.
Hints and Tips
Some useful things to know about this message board and how to use it:
- When you enter, you see a list of areas. These are major divisions of
the site, and only experience will tell how those divisions will bed in.
There's a board called Welcome which you can experiment freely with.
- In each area is a list of subjects. Subjects should be directly
relevant - your rant about launch point practice won't be noticed if it's
under the Tuesday's TLE Evening Cancelled. If you create a new subject,
make sure the title is obvious. For example, a discussion about something
on a particular date should be a new subject and the date should be in the
title.
- Within each subject is a list of posts, which constitute a discussion on
the subject. Click reply to add a post to the subject.
- There's a bar above the boxes that looks like this:
Stratford Gliding Club :: Welcome :: Welcome :: Testing
Navigate by clicking bits of this bar.
- Create a new subject by opening the area, where you will find a New
Topic button. Topics and Subjects seem to be the same thing.
- The Latest Post tells you which subjects are active.
- Times are US MidWest, so add six hours. Once you're logged in, click
Panel and Change my Preferences to get to a page where you can
say what time zone you are in.
- Subjects are ordered by most recent post.
